Charlie Smith
Pitching
Coach Smith is working on his 22nd year as head baseball coach at Havelock High School. He has guided the Rams to over 250 wins. The 1998 Havelock Rams won the 3A State Championship. Several of his players have gone on to play college and professional baseball.
Smith left Havelock in 1995 to become the pitching coach at East Carolina University where he served for three seasons (1995, 1996, and 1997). He returned to Havelock for the 1998 season.
Smith was a member of the East Carolina Baseball teams, 1979 - 1983. He was a first baseman/designated hitter his freshman and sophomore years and moved to the pitching staff for his junior and senior years. He pitched a no-hitter during his junior year. After graduation in 1983 Smith continued in the Pirate program as a graduate assistant coach for the 1984 season.
Smith works and has worked many pitching camps and clinics throughout the region.
